The First Jurisdiction IL 2017 Auxiliaries In Ministry Convention climaxed Thursday June 22nd at the historic St. Paul Church of God in Christ where Bishop Charles Mason Ford is Pastor. The church is located 4528 S. Wabash in Chicago. Our theme "The Heart of a Servant”. God has blessed each night in a tremendous way!
Thursday night represented the last night and official night of the convention. It is also the Chairman's night, or what I call Everybody’s night!
The electrifying First Jurisdiction Youth Choir under the direction of Brother Christopher Hodges and Sister Lequita Peel continued to sing out of their hearts as they rendered joyful songs of praise.
We were blessed with a special presentation from Sister Shaneah Taylor in the form of a Spoken Word. The title of the presentation was the Prayer for a Servant. Please click on the link below to hear this wonderfully recited prayer that is certain to bless you richly.
The Bishop Willard Payton Distinguished Service Award was presented to Missionary Martha Gross, for 33 years of faithful service to the First Jurisdiction IL Usher Board and her leadership on the regional and national Usher Board of our great church. Missionary Gross travels to each of our National Church conventions ready to serve. She is known as the Happy Usher. The choir sang “She deserves it” as she came to receive her award.
Once again we were blessed to hear words of encouragement from our sainted Jurisdictional Supervisor, Mother Shirley Hughes and Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop Ocie Booker. Both stated that they were tremendously blessed by the meeting thus far and commended each auxiliary for facilitating a highly spirited service each night.
Yours truly was given the wonderful opportunity to deliver the message for the Official Night. I directed the audience to our theme scripture 1 Peter 4:11 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. My subject was our conference theme “The Heart of a Servant”.
After the message, love tokens were presented to yours truly and to each of our 12 department heads. But this was not the end. It is a tradition on the last night to celebrate the convention with a Pizza Party. Many attended and we were blessed as we ate and fellowshipped with one another.
This was one of the greatest AIM conventions we've ever had. Each year, our Convention goes higher and higher. We wait with great anticipation to see what next year's convention will bring. Until then we will continue to possess the heart of a servant!
On behalf of Bishop Ocie Booker and the entire AIM family of First Jurisdiction IL, we thank you for attending and contributing to our AIM Convention. We pray that you were blessed during this meeting.
A special thanks to Sister Yolanda Hopkins for taking so many wonderful pictures that vividly captured each event of the convention and finally to our Jurisdictional Web Master, District Missionary Anastasia Richardson who is responsible for creating, producing and submitting the email communication for each night of the conference and updating our Jurisdictional website with our conference articles, pictures and audio recordings.
